Derek Sutherland

Derek also served a long and distinguished military career in operations all over the globe; his experience mirrors Joey’s and they served side by side under extremely challenging conditions at times. They share the same grit and determination for a job well done and are consummate professionals.

A senior consultant with the company, Derek is an advocate of its values. He has an extensive background working for Awarding Organisations as an External Quality Assurer, and as an ISO 9000 Lead Auditor for a large Government Agency. Derek is a warm and likeable person, he excels at engaging with learners and it’s apparent he loves what he does.

Derek takes responsibility to ensure our programmes are delivered using the best practices and personnel in the industry - a role he executes with military precision! Away from work Derek is the appointed Chairperson of the regional Sea Cadet Corps Unit. He is responsible for the general management of the unit, safety of the cadets, and ensuring the aims and objectives of the unit are achieved. He actively engages with both cadets and staff, assisting the team in enhancing their personal skills, professional development, and community liaison work. The opportunity to see young people grow, develop, and get on in life is what inspires Derek to maintain his close links to the Sea Cadet Corps.
Derek is still very much a globe trotter; under his wife’s stewardship they travel extensively and most definitely live life to the full.
